A Living Concept

At Söenhaus, an active decision has been made to evoke emotion and stir the senses—to stand apart from conventional housing in West Coquitlam.

A building is an object that must be thought of holistically. At Söenhaus, every architectural detail and constructive element has been designed. Many of the design decisions regarding the building’s composition were resolved in collaboration with RH Architects.

The building itself is kept simple and quiet, with a more nuanced design language. The massing follows the natural topography of the slope; carefully arranged around a lush interior courtyard.

Courtyard

Marcon’s Design Studio created a common language for key interior elements to maintain the connectivity with the surrounding landscape. An elegantly simple material palette of wood finishes and stone surfaces defines the space, with the interplay of organic tones making for a comfortable living environment.

To embrace nature, we’ve made every effort to integrate high-quality landscape design into the public realm. A core theme is wildscapes, which distinguishes itself from traditional landscaping through its emphasis on the ‘elegance of design.’ By heightening the picturesque qualities of nature, we deliver a greater enjoyment of the scenery.

“Just as elements refer to Nordic minimalism, so must the building refer to its surrounding.”
